Understand the Science
Children explore what emotions are, how the body participates in emotional experiences, and how emotions can influence decisions and behavior.
I teach children how emotions work and how the brain, body, thoughts, and stories are connected.
My goal is to make the science of emotions clear, practical, and engaging for children and their families.
I earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and began my teaching career at a high school in Montreal, Canada.
While teaching, I also studied acting. Exploring different characters taught me to examine the intentions, motivations, and emotions that influence human behavior.
I later moved to Thailand, where I spent two years teaching Grade 4 ESL. My teaching and travels introduced me to many cultures and different ways of understanding people. Additionally, I've lived in Peru, Vietnam, Malta, Ireland, Spain, Greece, Morocco, and Cyprus.
Today, I combine my background in psychology, education, acting, and international experience to teach children about emotional intelligence.
Watch this introduction to learn more about my teaching approach and the purpose behind Learn Emotions.
Children explore what emotions are, how the body participates in emotional experiences, and how emotions can influence decisions and behavior.
I use familiar stories, books, movies, and characters to make complicated emotional concepts easier to understand.
Students learn to distinguish emotions, thoughts, physical sensations, choices, and actions.
Before creating Learn Emotions, I taught children about emotions and emotional intelligence on Outschool for years.
My Outschool teaching history includes 173 parent reviews.
My goal is to encourage thoughtful conversations about emotions and give children clearer language for understanding themselves and other people.
Students are not asked to share private emotional experiences in a therapeutic way.
Learn Emotions provides educational programs and tutoring. It does not provide psychotherapy, counseling, diagnosis, crisis services, or medical treatment.
The lessons help students construct a clearer understanding of emotions. They are not designed to evaluate or treat a child’s emotions.
